front wheel wobble
'87 w126, 280k, after new drag link, new steering damper, idler arm kit, tie rods, track rod mounts, ball joints, replaced steering box (w/used one, tighter than original, but still 2-3 in. total play).... still wobbles. Haven't tried adjusting screw on steering box. Bout 55 mph, usually when hitting pot hole, feels like entire front end shakes, and I don't mean a little shimmy, it's like it's going to fall from under the car. Doesn't do it every time. Seems most likely first thing in the morning, or first few miles of a trip, rarely after that. Jerking the wheel and/or jamming the brakes will stop the wobble. After replacing steering box, wobble went away, thought it was fixed, but back as bad or worse than before. Anyone got any ideas? thanx for your opinions

Try new shocks. Maybe your shocks are worn out, so you've got nothing to dampen the up and down oscillation set off by hitting a bump in the road at certain speeds.

Simple things like a bad toe in or a lost weight from a wheel can make a car wobble at a certain speed.

Are potholes the only time this happens or is it just worse then. Do the bushings look healthy on your upper control arms?
