Engine Timing Help-Newbie
Good morning guys. This is a great forum.
I am a newbie in need of serious help. Never worked on a Benz before. I purchase a 92 190E 2.3 recently with a broken camshaft. Apparently the mechanic messed up on the timing. I do not want to make the same mistake. I have read quite a few of the threads none of them seem to have my specific problem. The camshaft sprocket has NO timing mark (s). How do I put in good timing. Also Do I need to remove the head to remove the timing chain tensionner? How do I set the Crank and the Cam timing correctly? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Cam shaft timing will NOT break a camshaft...
Installing the timing chain tensioner incorrectly WILL break the camshaft. I have seen at least 5-6 broken due to that problem!
