W210 brake light switch replacement
In an effort to get my ASR/BAS light to go out, I replaced the brake light (stop) switch this morning. The dash dummy light (which had been intermittent) is so far remaining unlit -- that's good news.
Bad news is that when the car is running, my brake lights are now constantly lit as if I am pressing the brake pedal. Anyone got an idea of what I've done wrong? I tried reversing the two smaller wires on the switch. Could I have gotten the two big wires wrong? And should the switch be all the way in? The white push portion of the switch, I mean. Thanks for any quick tips -- can't drive it with the brake lights constantly lit! Cheers, John |

Before you installed the switch, you should have pulled the stem all the way out. The switch is self adjusting, so when you install it and let go of the brake pedal, it will adjust to the correct position.
I just installed one on my SLK.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. Thank you slk230red -- ten more minutes under the dash and all is well. I owe you one!

Glad I could help, dukegrad98.
For anyone who's interested...here is a photo of the stop switch stem pulled all the way out and another one showing the stem all the way in. You have to give it a pretty good tug to pull it all the way out.
