Car hit from behind last night - need advice

Hello everyone. My wife's 2000 E320 4Matic Wagon was hit from behind last night. She was moving slowly, he was standing on the brakes trying to stop, but he couldn't. Luckily as he was braking so hard the nose of his car was very low, and all the damage appears to be on the rear bumper. I crawled under the car and there isn't any damage to the muffler/exhaust and the gas tank doesn't have a mark on it. The car sounds fine, drives fine and feels just like it did before. The hatch opens and closes without problem. Luckily nobody was hurt (my 17 month old was in the car at the time), the other driver stopped, had insurance, etc. and is at fault on this one.

My question is this: is there anything special about the back end of a W210 wagon hiding out of view that I should have the body shop be aware of when they quote on the damage. Or is it really just the bumper and associated molding?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Jonathan, take your E320 wagon to a high end bodyshop specializing in BMW and MB repairs. They will know what to look for when estimating the repair cost, and adjustments will be made if they uncover more damage once the repair is underway. Typically there is more damage than what meets the untrained eye.

Since you're in Toronto, look up M-B Weston in the phonebook.
Ask for Enzo.
This is The Best bodyshop ( 99% of their work is M-B's ) I have ever seen.

You should take the car to a body shop. Mine was rear-ended once; as we examined at the accident site everything looked OK, even no scratches, but back home we noticed the rear doors were not in flush with the heck indicating slight frame deformation. Later the bill was about 900.- paid by the other insurance.
