92 190e 2.6L - shifting problems

I always have to push a little harder for the tranny to get in gear (D drive)? When I put it in D it seems like it is in Neutral. Therefore, having to push back a little further does the trick.
Someone told me something on the side of the tranny needs to be replaced???

thanks,
Joseph

two small bushings where the shift rod joins the console handle to the side of the trans.

no its a little tough.if you get the bushings and slide off the clips, then cut about 1/32 of the circle out of the bushings you will be able to get them in the holes with a little grease.now slide the rod back through the bushings and get a medium size slot screwdriver and slip it into the top of the clip as an aid to replacing them.
