While cleaning the belly pan under the engine in my 300D today I noticed that the seal between the engine and the tranny has a very small leak. Much to my surprise, everything else on the engine is completely clean. I searched this site for various information regarding the seal, but all I could find were instructions on how to replace it, which I believe is beyond my current capabilities.
I would like to know how urgent this repair is. It is quite costly to have done, and oil is much cheaper than seal repairs. Will I cause any further damage to my car by not fixing this anytime soon? I would prefer to postpone the repair, but I will do it now if neccesary. Thanks in advance for your input.

you can continue to drive it
it will just keep leaking and may get a little worse. Just keep an eye on your oil level. When it gets to the point where you can't keep oil in it then it will be time to change it.
I have seen people drive vehicles with leaking rear main seals for years. Jim |

Thanks JS for that bit of info... I did not know that... about the overfill and the seals leaking.
Smiles.
