Do any parts interchange between the 4.2/5.0 and 5.6 engines?

Any parts interchangable?

Also wondering if the cylinder heads from the 4.2L and 5.0 4 cam V8's from the 420E/500E's fit the 5.6 SOHC valve motors used on the 560SL/SEL's?

Were the heads AMG used on the Hammer something they had cast for just the Hammer cars, or were they a modified MB cylinder head?

Thanks.

Several ways to check this. One is to get ahold of a Hollander interchange manual. These are hard to get cheaply though, maybe borrow a copy from a garage. I use my paper Adsit catalog and just note which of their part numbers are the same for different listings. You can do this online too, but it's cumbersome unless you are only looking at a few specific parts.

I highly doubt that they would fit since the 4.2 and 5.0 L you speak of are the m119 engine and the 5.6L was an older m117 engine.

An M119 head (4.2/5.0) is not at all compatible with an M116/M117 block. Sorry! Also, the AMG heads were made especially by AMG. Not at all modified M117 stock heads.

Compare LH head gaskets:

A couple more related questions

Does anyone know how big can the 5.6 motor be bored and stroked?

Any idea how many sets of AMG 4 valve heads were made?

Thanks.

1) I'd say 6.0, as that's what the largest AMG ones were, and the block was originally designed to be 4.5.

2) I'd guess less than 100.
