How about the stuff called "SeaFoam"?

I have seen it at parts stores, and some people swear by it for all there engines. It can be placed in the oil, fuel, or right into the intake manifold.

Anyone ever use it or try it?

I've used it. Added it to gas before.

Worked the same as techron - but techron is cheaper.

Don't forget about Redline SI-1 and Fuel Power FP60.

Fuel Injector Cleaner

I have used Berrymans Carb and Injector Cleaner for several years; 1 can for each 16 gallon fill up on my previous 116 450 and now my 126 420; after regular use I have the cleanest fuel distributor and valves with no carbon residue at all plus you get smoother engine running and a bit higher fuel octane that makes the car run smoother and have more pep. Found at auto parts stores for $2.68 a can; I even seen it at 7-11's.

I looked for the BG stuff yesterday at a local auto parts store and they didn't have it. Is it only sold through garages or something? I boought a bottle of Techron instead, since that's been touted here as pretty good stuff.

The bottle doesn't mention that it would help fuel economy, but I'm hoping it will. Anybody know if that's the case or not?

Ethan is correct about using gas from a station with high traffic, and not filling up while the tanker is there.

I have used Shell V-Power consistently since about 100k miles. I have 145k now. Between 61-100, I went with station-du-jour that looked clean and did brisk business. That included MurphyUSA (Walmart gas) because it was always cheap and fresh.

Then I noticed inconsistent performance. Car sometimes seemed dead under load and I got 2-3mpg less on a tank. These big-box gas outlets are cheapest because they buy from whomever has the cheapest gas at the pipeline that particular week. Diff brands explains the inconsistency in performance.

I THEN spoke to a friend whose family owns some gas stations in the western part of my state, and she said it IS true that additives are extremely important, AND that Shell V-Power - which I had begun using by this time - is truly a better gasoline. I had a neighbor who swore by Amoco Ultimate in his BMWs, never a single fuel system issue in 200k of driving (Amoco = BP)

My car has performed at its highest ability since running V-Power. My M111 needs all the help it can get, and whatever the cause, my car is quicker off the line and more responsive 0-30 than the 2007 C230 (6cyl) loaner car I had when my car was in for shocks. Gas helping? Who knows.

FWIW, I use techron maybe every 15-20k just for insurance. But again, 145k on original pump and injectors. Never a fuel system-related issue in 85k of ownership. Filter changed at 120k

just try any of the known or common brand to add on your gas tank, your driving a Benz, would a loose change for a bottle of valve cleaner hurt? Don't be discourage by some less or missinformed individuals.

Have been using Chevron Techron for years on various vehicles. Recommended by MB. The bottles of "Saturn" fuel sytem cleaner sold by Saturn Saab dealers in Canada was rebaged Techron.

I had a terrible time with an intermittent problem on my 420 SEL. After it warmed up it would miss and upon acceleration it would drag and then take off like a rocket. I ran BG 4 through 3 tanks and the car now runs great!

How does M-B react to these fuel additives? Do you M-B techies recommend adding fuel system cleaners or gas treatment to M-B? Thanks.
Using any one of these brands of gasoline http://www.toptiergas.com/ on a regular basis should take care of any engine problems. My 2 cents.

I use Techron. No complaints so far. Mechanics I know swear by BG. Not sure there's a lot of difference between them.
