Quick Brake question

Completely redone the rear brakes, now it's time to bleed.

Unfortnally the power bleeder that I made has the worng cap (it dosnt fit the resovior)

So I do the normal bleeding procedure: have someone pump the brakes 3 times, then hold the 4th pump in whaile I let some fluid out.

Then the pedel seems fine, returns to where it should be and has the right feel. as SOON as I turn the car on the pedel go's to the floor, did I miss something?

When you turn the car on the brake booster creates a lot more pressure.
Sounds like you got air in the system. The brake resovior for the rear
does not hold a lot of fluid and can empty out pretty fast. Look close at
the resovior it can be hard to tell if the rear portion is empty. It also
can be a pain to get the rear resovior to fill up. This happened to me
until I figured it out. Rebleed and make sure the rear resovior stays full.

to get all the air out i would expect to pump it up four times at least. pump up release bleeder, push pedal to floor and hold it there while bleeder is shut off, then pump it up again and repeat. be sure as noted above that the res is full up to full line before you start.

good luck

With the small size of the rear resevoir chamber I usually top up the resevoir after every second bleeding. You very likely bled the system dry, very easy to do because the rear chamber is near impossible to see. In order to fill the rear chamber you have to fill the res to the top, it will look like it wants to overflow, just pour very slowly.

well, it is a bit tricky, if you dont do it in the exactly right sequence you will get air back in each time you try to bleed it down.

and as i said you need to usually do it three or four times til you get all the bubbles out.

i usually do it a couple more times after i think i have all the air out to be sure. the discharge out the bleeder should be absolutely bubble free. either while squirting freely or through a clear plastic tube into your catch container.

i personally have used power bleeders that i borrowed from my indie, and also the popular mitivac, but i have never had a lot of luck with either system, and always seem to go back to the old two man system (apologies to the ladies).

you will get it, dont give up.
