DIY Subframe Bushing Removal Tool (w124, w201, others?) - Pics and Instructions
I didn't really know where to put this thread. I hope this is the right spot.
Instructions: 1) measure the diameter of the bushing with a caliper 2) cut a piece of angle steel to that length (i used 3/8" x 1" x 1" because it was laying around) 3) cut two pieces of bar steel to ~ 4". i think i used 1/4" x 1.25". whatever was handy. 4) clamp together and test to make sure that it fits snugly on the outside of the bushing, and sits on top of the edge of the cup. if not, grind a little to change the angle slightly. 5) when you're sure it fits, weld the assembly together. 6) drill a 1/2" hole in the center of the angle steel bar. 7) weld a nut to one end of a 1/2" coarse-thread rod. What is a subframe bushing, and where is it / where are they? A long time ago someone on here told me my subframe bushings were shot when I told them about this problem I have:
I drive with my hand on the shifter (used to manual in the 944). When I brake semi-hard, or turn semi-quickly, I hear a loud click and I feel the shifter move. I always thought this meant my motor mounts were messed up, but I'd be interested to know more about subframe bushings. Thanks,

Has anyone replaced a rear coil spring on W124, 95 E320 Wagon? Were you able to take pictures w/ instructions, hopefully w/ warnings? Looks like I've been getting loud squeaky noise especially from the right rear coil spring (I think). I've WD-40'd all bushings and rear swaybar stay (has rubber part) and still hearing this loud squeaky noise. I'm thinking about removing the coil spring and re-installing after checking the condition of the rubber piece on top of the coil spring.
