How many years did your battery last?
I was servicing my 1994 E320 and noticed the battery was purchased in March 1998, yikes!!!!! 8 years is incredible, it's a Interstate MT-93 so I am replacing it with the same thing. It still works fine but my kids drive it and it has to be ready to die.

Mine's 7 years old, and an "official" MB-labeled battery from the dealer.
Of course, having the battery in the trunk on the 400E probably extends its life due to less heat to put up with.

On my 95 E420 it lasted 7+ years and was the original Mercedes battery. This being my first MB I was nervous when one day I pulled up to a stop sign on a hill, and did sort of a slow, rolling stop, then hit the gas. Well, several lights on the dash came on, I believe one being the SRS, and I thought oh no what now!. A couple of weeks later it was slow to crank so I took it in for a check and sure enough battery was on last legs. pretty good though vs other cars I have had where battery maybe lasts 2-3 years.

I've always figured with all the "power-everything" we have nowadays, batterylife would be shortened. Got 6 years out of my original battery. We'll see how long the replacement ( M-B ) will last.

The one in my car is 7 years old; OEM MB brand. Still strong. Haven't done anything, still a virgin.

It's really important on the most recent model Benz that the battery be 100%. On my 2002 c240 that gets very little use - which is hard on a battery, a weak battery gives all kinds of symptoms; transmission shifting issues & problem with the trans W/S switch, lamp sensor issues. and of course a slight extra whine on cold days from the starter.
On my 1998 C230, frequent use of the REST feature and radio playing with key removed has me changing out battery every four years. |

I have usually replaced the OE battery at about 7-8 years. Always get an Interstate or OE battery.

The Interstates give me about 5 years on average; that's why I keep buying them.

I got almost 10 years out of a Sears Die Hard. The reason it lasted so long is I don't drive my 300E five speed on a regular basis and use a battery tender.

Mine lasted 7+ years when I replaced it with another OEM MB battery. I found the MB brand battery is only slightly more expensive than the ones you buy from, say Sears, although they are in essence manufactured by Interstate.

When I picked up my new battery the shop said the batteries last so long in the MB because they aren't exposed to the high underhood temps like most american cars. On my E320 the battery sits behind a metal wall shiedling it from the high temps. The new MT-93 cost me $109

battery life
Hi,
I live in a very hot part of the US: Palm Springs, CA Summers here get up to 120F and cars suffer accordingly. I got in the habit when we first moved here of raising the hood when I returned after a hot run. I figured that releasing the built up heat certainly couldn't hurt. My Interstate battery is going on 6 years and I have had no problems with hoses or any other heat related issues. Anziani '87 300E 170K Daily driver '95 E420 91K Hi speed tourer |
