Help! I lost my timing witness mark.

Can anyone telll me which cylender is number 1 on my 450slc? I pulled the dist. to clean and set all the points and washed off my rotor witness mark. Now I need to set number 1 at TDC but the book does not say which cylender is #1.

Looking at eng, front left is number 1. Or front right if you are sitting in car.
