Replacing Hard fuel lines

On my '80 300D I'm replacing the hard, clear plastic fuel lines that go to the IP. They were old and cracked. My only problem is that they snapped off at the connections leaving the plastic hose on the connector. How do I get that little piece off? It seems like it was heat fit or something as it's really snug.

Has anyone had any experience changing these?

Thanks.

you can buy new sets for a reasonible price...and the fittings are on the new ones.

call Phill Rhienhart, Rusty Cullens or Henry Schuman and you can get new ones.

How do I get the plastic off?

Thanks for that. How do I get the plastic off these connectors? I don't really want to teak a blow torch to them to soften them, but what other option do I have?

you don't you remove the banjo bolts that holt the fittings on..get new lines that are ready to bolt on and use new copper crush washers.....be sure to order them too. there is more than one size needed. I replaced mine two years ago.

You toss the old fittings into your toolbox or in the trash.

The new lines are the pastic part AND they already have the brass ends on them.

Good idea for the others to change these if they are so dark you can't see the fuel in them....as you found out they can get real brittle after 21+ years service.

Be sure to replace all the copper washers when you change those lines.
