How to replace the battery in the remote control
It took me a while to figure this out, so I thought I would pass it along. This is how to change the battery on your remote control (this is on a 1999 C230)
1. Remove the metal spare key from the remote control. (Slide the catch toward the Panic button and push the metal key tab toward the rear, remove the metal key completely from the remote.) 2. Hold the remote control and look at the edge that you just removed the metal key from (with the wide end up). Look at the top of the key slot. There is a catch that moves into the remote when you push on the slide at the top of the remote. This is the catch that holds the metal key in the remote. It's black. Immediately below the black catch (about 1/4 inch below) is a white catch. You will need to push the white catch in to remove the battery holder. 4. You will be removing the entire wide end of the remote control from the rest of the control. This is the part of the remote that has the Panic button and the metal key slide button. It also has a slot around its edge for your fingernails to fit into. 5. Use key end of the metal key to push the white catch into the remote. 6. Use your middle fingernail and thumbnail in the edge of the battery holder and pull up on the battery holder. Wiggling the holder helps. Pull up the metal key end of the holder first, then the other end. 7. Be careful while removing the battery holder. The battery might fall out if it's upside down. 8. Replacing the battery and reassembly should be fairly staight forward. |

Don't you have an Owners Manual?
The procedure is described in it.
