Thanks
You are correct, I had the door open. Oops, didn't know that.
I will go try it now. Thanks a bunch! |

Did not work
I attempted as instructed above and it will not reset. The only thing I did was change the oil, other items will be done laterly such as air & cabin filter. I tried it several times, it brings up the amount of miles I am over the FSS, but it never brings up the 10,000 miles - I held down the '0' for well past 30 seconds - but it just goes back to the odometer reading. There are no warning/idiot lights on, so I am confused.
![]() Any suggestions? |

Here is what I said in a previous thread on this same subject: "Thanks to Gilly's post (and the search function) I have finally reset the FSS counter on my '98 C230. I had used the procedure in my manual several times (with the door closed) and it didn't work. The secret is to push and hold the "0" button while still in position 2 BEFORE turning back to position 0 and then keep holding while turning back to 2 again. Apparently there is an error in the manual in this regard. I did not need to actually start the car. So the correct procedure (for these cars anyway) looks like:
Get in car and close door Turn key to position 2 (about 4 O'clock) Press and release "0" button twice, then press a third time and hold While still holding, turn key back to 0 While STILL HOLDING, turn key back to 2 again, KEEP HOLDING !! After around 10 seconds you will hear BEEP and display will show 10,000 (or possibly 15,000 or 20,000 for Canadian or other models). Mike

Appreciation
Thanks to all for your responses. Ultimately I never did get it reset, so I drove by our indi and they reset the first try - same thing and way I was doing it - with one exception - he didn't wait until all clear after closing the door. And yes you are correct, the manual apparently is not exact.
