Intermittent power loss,89' 260E
At about 60mph the engine seemed to miss for a few seconds then recovered. 30 min later, same thing and then again a third time. I was trying to make it home from a 100 mi trip at night and finally the power loss was constant and 45mph was top speed. I stopped for a red light and when I started up again the engine was normal. I suspect a fuel problem. I had added new fuel on this trip but it might be a fuel filter problem also. I haven't tried to start the car since this adventure ended. Any ideas.

I had the same problem on my 89 260e, and it turned out to be O2 sensor along with lambda setting. I also suspected fuel and a blocked catalytic converter, but it turned out that neither of these contributed to the problem.

The o2 sensor was on my list. I'll check it out. Thanks Ned |
