Clk 430 Running Light not working - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

Hello,

I have a 2000 CLK 430 and my passenger side running light (the one betweeen the grille and the headlight will not come on. I changed the bulb and it still wont work. Is ther a seperate fuse or relay for this light that I could change if so where is it on the car. MInd every one that the drivers side is working and I have a malfunction message. Also when I start the car in the morning cold I get some lifter tapping that goes away immediately after warmed up. Is this normal and if not whats up. 43000 miles on the car.

Often, people will grab and replace the high-beam bulb instead of the small
5w running lamp bulb that is right below it. The fuses for all the lights are located in the headlamp switch fuse box. You will need to pry the leftside cover off the dash with the door open to access the panel. The fuses are
behind. The best step would to verify you have power and ground at the
bulb socket using a DVOM or Fluke meter.

Dr Deisel I have the 4 light set up Oo=oO Like this diagram Imade to the left the 2nd o from the left is out and it only has one bulb in it. It is a 55 w bulb and I have replaced it. I have checked all of the fuses but none are blown I thought it might be a relay gone bad the other lights work accept for this one. Please help

The 55w bulb is the high beam bulb. There are 2 lamps in the inner access
door closest to the radiator. Remove the cover from the side that works
and turn the lights on. You will see the little marker light bulb glowing in
there and that should help you find it on the dead side.

How long has it been since your last oil change? What kind/grade/weight
oil are you using?
A little lifter noise is normal on start-up, but bad or wrong oil can worsen it.

How often do you drive your car? Certain oil weights and extremely cold weather can exacerbate the lifter noise, but generally, you should NOT get any noise at all.

Had an R129 that would be noisy for a few minutes when it sat for a few months, but otherwise, even once-a-week startups would have no lifter noise at all.

My wife's CLK has about the same mileage as yours and there is no lifter noise upon startup. Of course, this is sunny Texas, where it's 60 in the winter...
