OM116 380 Main Bearing Question

Hi all,
Engine in question is out of an '81 380SL, OM116.960.
Question in question is: Can the main bearings on this engine be replaced w/o pulling the crank?
Thanks!

That was my understanding regarding mains. Just some fuzzy half-heard/half-remembered rumor about the OM116. I'm sure that I just need to up my meds .
