Bilstein Shocks for "1973" W108.068
I have a 1973 280SEL 4.5 and want to add some Bilstein shocks. Their info states:
Series W108/W110/W111/W112 250, 250S, 250SE, 280SE, 280SEL 65-72 To 8/72 HD Front: B36-0527 Rear: B46-0537 B22-0246-BM Steering Damper Note the "To 8/72". My car was built 9/72. I called the Eastern distributor and they said it was too long ago to tell but probably means there are ride problems. Since this car was only made two more months, it seems hard to believe that there was a chassis change. (Hence there are fewer '73 280SEL 4.5 than any others.) Any help would be appreciated as I would really like to mount these shocks but don't want a disaster or to but unmountable shocks. Any info out there for me? Cheers, Bill Pepper |

All 108.067s have the same shocks, so far as I know. No changes that late, I'd expect, but remember they were NOT assembly line manufactured....
Buy the "earlier" shocks, return if they don't fit (get them from someone else if you cannot return them). I put a set of rears off a 1967 220S on the 280, fit just fine. Peter
