124 front window regulator replacement (updated)

I am in the midst of replacing front driver side window regulator on my 1987 300E. Removal of old one (which was missing a bunch of teeth that made it so it wouldn't go all the way up) was pretty easy, as was getting the new old bolted in. Problem is, I cannot get the regulator arm into the lower slider track (the one at bottom of the window glass). I know you have to tip the back of the window up to get it into the opening in the track, but I cannot get it to go back into the track no matter what I try - I have used the window switch to move the reg arms to different positions but I cannot find any position where the lower arm will go into the track. This is really annoying. I now have 2 windows that don't work (pass side shattered when hit with a stone while weedwacking, now this one). Thanks

Wish I could tell you what I had done last winter, because I had a heck of a time getting it all to line up properly.

I believe it took several up/down hits on the window switch while adjusting to get the regulator to get lined up properly. SO not fun!

I figured it out...much, much easier to get those things into the tracks if you don't bolt in the regulator until after you get them in, because you can move the regulator around to put that arm at a better angle. I think I could do this job in 1/2 hour if I had to do it again, given the learning curve (probably took me over 2 hours first time). I found instructions for this job on the net, and it really wasn't that hard at all.
