Hey, Joe . . .
I've been using Chevron Delo 400 diesel/gas rated oil, 15W-40 (though I understand Chevron also has it in 10W-30), in my Benzes for several years. The oil pressure actually went up in my 420SEL (same body as your car, w/ a gas engine) from its readings under a supposedly thicker oil, a 20W-50. I use it now in my C230, also.
The folks over at BobIsTheOilGuy.com will tell you more about these oils than you probably want to know. But they all say that Delo is a *very robust* oil.

The major national brands of API CI-4 oil for diesel engines are Chevron Delo, Shell Rotella, and Mobil Delvac. The most commonly available multi-viscosity is 15W-40, and I consider all these brands to be of equal quality.
