87 560 SEL transmission leak - remove tranny?
Hi,
On my 1987 560 SEL there is a small transmission fluid leak. It is coming from a rod/nut type part that is just above the trans fluid pan on the front passenger side of the pan. From it is a part that runs up and I believe to the front area of the car. Since this gasket is leaking is there a way to replace it or repair it without taking the transmission out? Thanks! |

If it was my car, I would first add a quart of stop leak Tranny fluid, it simply makes gaskets swell and will not harm the transmission, it's worth a try and has minimal risk.

if i remember correctly that is a banjo bolt with 2 aluminium washers. I would change out the washers next time you change your tranny filter and fliud. You should not have to drop out the tranny to do that.
