Helpless feeling
My car (1992 180e) was having a coolant leak problem. My mechanic re-furbed and pressure tested the radiator. Then 3 days later i noticed a huge puddle of coolant on the garage floor. Mr Mechanic reckons its something with the Cylinder head, so what does that mean? He's tearing apart my engine as we speak and is checking all the hoses and says he mave have to re-bore the head or some such.
Whats going on here? This guy is pretty good and has never overcharged or tried to con me in the handful of times my Dad and I have had trouble with the car in its 12 year ownership. Can someone explain exactly what he may be doing? I hate not knowing. Im just a poor uni student so this is going to wipe out most of my pay for the next month or so, but thems the breaks of owning a merc i suppose. Im just fuming that a month after i buy the car of Dad it has its first ever mechanical problems.\ |

My guess would be water pump. When its changed its usually good to go ahead and change out the timing chain while you're at it. Maybe thats what he's doing?
