I went into an auto parts store and told the clerk I had heard good things about the "techron stuff", he said yeah i've heard that about all of them.
They had like 30 brands there.

You can't beat removing and sending the injectors out to be ultrasonically cleaned and then have the spray pattern and balance checked. If you have a performance issue it can eliminate the fuel system as a problem source. At under $70 for a set of 6 injectors (if you remove them) it's money well spent.

Would an ultra-sonic jewelery cleaner work? I bought 2 for the missus for Xmas (shussssh) and was planning to return 1, but maybe it would work in the shop....

Let me just say this, Which ever one you use, keep it as far away from your nares(nose) as possible. I was working a shift in the pediatric ER whne a young (13) y.o girl comes in with multiple lacerations and contusions as well as having her left foot nearly torn off and just barely hanging on by a few tendons. Turns out she had been "Huffing" carburetor cleaner and had decided to "exit the vehicle" while it was still in motion.To make matters worse her 16 y.o. sister was with her at the time and allowing her to do this awful thing. I could not help but wonder what was going on at home that would make this kind of reality modification justifiable to a 16 let alone a 13 yo child. There was no immediate prognosis available by the end of my shift. She was still very much strung out with the very real possibility of NEVER COMING BACK!!
Oh....I almost forgot the original ??... Not sure which brand is best, no one knew the brand that she used but I'll tell you this ...it was some pretty bad ****!

I use them also. Lubro Moly is also known as Liqui Moly internationally. The Jectron Fuel Injection Cleaner and the Ventil Sauber Valve Clean are great!

I have used Techron for more than 10 years and recommend it to anyone asking. I believe it is a good product. It is marketed by Chevron. I buy a 20 gallon bottle for about 10 bucks and use it 2x a year. Have had good results. That reminds me, I am due for another treatment.

Read a test on injector cleaners some time ago.
The verdict was, if you use a good, brand name gasoline, it already has a certain amount of detergent additives in it.
Apparently, the higher octane versions ( i.e. more expensive ) supposedly contain more detergents.
Off - the - shelf injector cleaners do a reasonably good job of KEEPING your injectors clean, while only an ultra sonic cleaning will truly restore an injector to complete cleanliness.
Also, keep in mind nowadays most OEM's utilize " self ' cleaning " injectors.

All fuel injector cleaner seems to smell like kerosene. With some MB's you are not supposed to put any in the tank. My friend is pretty sure this stuff screwed up the egr valve on his dads S600. Stupid dealer dumped some in even though the manual says don't. $600 later problem solved.

I used some in my moms Olds when it had a dirty injector, common on those. Between that and high rpm runs it seemed to clean it out.
