Meet for dinner in Atlanta....?

Sorry for posting here, but this forum gets much more eye traffic than the "Events and Gatherings" forum.

I travel all over the U.S. with my job, and I have been able to meet up with mayber 30-40 mercedesshop.com forum members over the past several years.

The last time I was in Atlanta, I met up with El Presidente. We got a private tour of the MB Autowerks shop by none other than Donnie Drummonds and The Webmaster. Donnie even took me for a ride in his ultra-fast, turbocharged 190E 2.3-16 valve.

I will be in Atlanta on business, and have this Saturday, October the 23rd available for dinner.

It would be fun to have a little GTG and discuss "war stories" of our experiences with our cars.

I am staying at the Marriott Atlanta Northwest, 200 Interstate North Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30339. Tel: 770-952-7900.

We can eat at the hotel or some place nearby.

Please respond here:

Meet for dinner in Atlanta.....?

I cannot go but I encourage everyone in GA to try to go. At a Dallas meeting someone drove 280 miles from Houston!

Come on Eric, it's only about a thousand miles to Atlanta. I'll bet your 300E would get you there in a days drive!

Wish I could make it, but I have the driveshaft out of my 300E.

Paul, enjoy the trip and be safe.

Have a great day,

Due to Hurricane Ivan, the business meeting I was to attend has been moved to the weekend of October 23rd.

I'll repost again at that time.

The NOPI Bikini Contest (and car show) are scheduled for this Saturday the 18th in Atlanta. Good thing you didn't have to compete with that!! Of course Ivan may trash that too. One of my friends lives near Hampton, Ga. and I just heard that he and his family were holed up in a closet due to tornadoes in the area!!

Heh... my drive hime was pretty exciting... gusts up to 40 knots just a little while ago, but no trees down or major damage at my house. Mercedes has been snug in the garage all day though.

WebWench.....you don't happen to work for the Neal Boortz show do you?? Had to ask, just curious. He has a woman who he refers to as WebWench that does his web site and such.

Nope... 'webwench' is a female variant of 'webmaster', just a generic term for someone who does websites.

If you remember, I was supposed to be in Atlanta in September, but the hurricane cancelled the business meeting I was to attend.

I have edited the first post above to reflect the new date - this Saturday, October the 23rd.

Sorry for the short notice, but I'd love to meet up with anyone for dinner.

I live in Atlanta.

How many people do you have signed up for this deal?
Whats the attire?
Age range of participants?
Any cool activities?
Mind if the girlfriend comes?

If I go, I suppose I should clean the e420. Then you can marvel at my 130watt, relayed ece headlights ; of course all the while ignoring the GAPING HOLE in my lower valence from a rogue piece of retread .

*EDIT* Oh crap, was I supposed to post in the other thread?

Great. Spouses / significant others are all welcome.

I'm 36 years old, but I've met up with guys from about 20 years old to probably 60-ish.

We can just meet at a restaurant and have dinner, talk, etc.

Since this thread is getting all the action, we'll make the list here:

1. Me
2. AtlBenz and gf
3. webwench and bf

A note on the meeting location.

I will be attending a meeting at the previously mentioned Marriott Atlanta Northwest, but I will be checking out at 5:00 p.m. Saturday evening and checking into the Westin Atlanta Airport that evening. I will be flying home Sunday morning and need to stay adjacent to the airport.

We can still meet near the Marriott Atlanta Northwest, but I'd prefer to meet at a restaurant closer to the Westin.

Westin Atlanta Airport
4736 Best Road
Atlanta, GA 30337
404-762-7676

Anyhow, it would be neat to get a nice turnout.

I was in Dallas in June, and there must have been at least 20 people that showed up.

Update:

I will be leaving the Marriott as soon as my meeting gets out at 5:00 p.m. I will drive directly to The Westin near the airport so that I can check in before it gets too late.

Mike Mover and his gf will be picking me up at The Westin at around 6:00 p.m.

He has selected a restaurant called LaFonda....It's a great Latino restaurant with a wide variety of Puerto-Rican, Mexican, Spanish, and Cuban food.

I've asked him to post the address and directions so that everyone knows where to meet.

I suppose 6:30 p.m. would be a good meeting time.
