psfred,

I didn't say anything about the brace. I said that my speedo cable comes through the floor near the gas pedal and there is no clamp. Maybe the clamp is missing, but I sure can't see where it was.

josh,

I would suggest buying two hooks.

Have a great day,

I got the speedo out today. The odo is jammed. The input worm gear was out of sync with the gear on the side of the assembly.

After some tests with a drill, it didn't make a difference so I'll be searching threads regarding sending it out for repair.

Thanks.

The hooks .. they come as a pair. At least mine did- I distinctly remember asking the dealer for *a pair* and he ordered 2 and got 2 sets. He sent once set back to MB.

Larry:

Mine is a TE, and there is an armored cable clamped to the bottom of the dash brace. No idea what is it if it's not the speedo cable, and I didn't really pay any attention other than swearing at it while attempting to put the bolt back in.

I'll be glad to be done with this job, it's a PITA (still waiting to pick up rubber connectors).

psfred,

I absolutely agree. I think that I'm ready to place the instrument panel. Tonight I will begin by checking everything as best I can before putting it in place.

My lift is tied up and I'm completely consumed by this project any time I'm not working. I took a night off last night and went out to dinner while JB Weld cured on my defroster linkage.

If I don't get done this weekend I think I'll just set fire to it.

Good luck with yours,
