Would anyone happen to know the name of the OEM manufacturer of brake rotors for a 1983 300D? I have been told it is *not* ATE. Is this true?
Thanks for all replies. |

JDEN-
When this car rolled off the assembly line in Germany, it was wearing ATE rotors. However, if you go to an MB dealer today to buy rotors, you will probably get Brembo rotors. The Brembo rotors are manufactured in South Africa and have the MB star stamped on them. We just happen to have both of these brands in stock in PartsShop. We stock the ATE as 123 421 00 12 We stock the Brembo as 123 421 00 12 OE ------------------ Bill Wood - Webmaster MercedesShop.com, LLC |

Webmaster, just to take JDEN's inquiry one more step, do we know which of the two is the better option, for whatever reason (i.e., cost, durability, wear considerations, etc.). Thanks.

As far as I know it's just a matter of Brembo winning the Mercedes contract to be the supplier. I think it was a purchasing decision more than a technical decision. I have not compared the 2 parts side by side to see if any differences exist.
