Check your alternator output with a cheap VOM meter you WILL purchase at Radio Shack. ($14...) With the engine running, connect meter to the battery. + and -.
You should get 13.8 volts or so....

I would recomend you drain and clean the tank first before trying to start the car. The old bad gas will clog your carbs.
Also change all the rubber gas lines (hoses). They are no good.
