Thumbs down The New Metallica Album.... What Did You Think?

Well, Tonight I downloaded the new Metallica album on WinMX.. I would usually just buy the CD the moment it came out but I decided to check it out before I spend the $20.
Here is my opinion,,,,,
WOW, What Garbage!!! I would give them $20 if they just broke up the band before they make complete fools of themselves!!! This album downright SUCKS! I think they went for a vertical drop after the black album and they have finally busted threw the pavement.. The "back door boyz" or "instink" seem way more worthy than that St. Anger crap!
Anyway, my views of this album are obvious; I am interested in hearing what you think.

BTW: Stupid Title!

I already gave up on Metallica after a couple of their "Country" music albums. Did they suck or what? Black album closed one chapter in their history and I though it was over. but then when I heard Frantic on the radio for the first time I was like Thank God!
I think the album is great. I just drove some long distances and the album is great to wake you up a little. That song with Some Kind of Monster in it lends itslef great to when we went to the M-100 meet on the drag racing track! I think I will use it as a soundtrack for the video I took there, but wait Lars will probably sue me.

When it comes to Metallica I am a die hard fan for life. My favorite song on that disc is somekind of monster. Master of puppets is the best.

123c- let's not start name-calling here. I respect your opinion, and I'm not saying that it's wrong. Please consider though that music is art, and to have art thrown around the internet without the artist's permission is very, very wrong, imho... not to start a napster debate, I just think that name-calling is disrespectful.

That said, I think the new album is downright shameful. I've idolized Metallica for years and years. I thought Load/Reload were actually pretty good and most of the new stuff on Garage Inc. rocked. I actually feel, as a college student of 18 years, with no experience recording music whatsoever, that I could make a better album. Most of the song's have serious potential once you remove the punk drum beats (I think Lars ruined the album) and repeated lyrics. Bob Rock did such an amazing job producing the Black Album (just saw the hour long special on VH1 on the Black Album btw, every Metallica fan should watch it), I just don't understand how he could let this happen. I wonder how much of his influence caused this album to turn out the way it did.

Imo, there are three good tracks: St. Anger because of it's catchy, though poorly executed chorus; Some Kinda Monster, because of the chunky, driven riff in the beginning as well as the chorus; and Shoot Me Again, once again, because of the chorus. I think these songs, with modification, could equal some of their previous work.

I applaud Metallica for releasing another album that is what they want to release, not something to make money, or to please anyone else.

I only have a few Metallica songs that I like... the rest are OK at best.

"No-Leaf Clover"
"Hero of the day"
"Nothing else matters"

The other titles I could care less for.
