My dating life's an open book here: What do you guys think of this:
Okay, I met a very nice girl several months ago. We've been on three dates now and I still haven't gotten that "first kiss" in.
We very much enjoy each other's company and can spend hours just talking to each other, which is the first thing I think of when she comes to mind. After the first date, she sent me a "thank you" card in the mail. After last Saturday's date, she sent me a "thank you" letter. I also met her family last Saturday because she was spending the weekend with them. I'm pretty confident it wasn't one of those "time to meet the parents" things, it was just that that's where she was. Her parents are pretty well-to-do and live in a huge house in Great Falls, VA. We got along very well; I'm confident that they like and approve of me. Tonight we went to a nice Spanish dinner and enjoyed live Flamenco dancing. We had a great time talking and enjoying the show. Afterward, we walked through Old Town Alexandria, arm in arm, in the rain back to her place. It's great to know someone elso who actually likes walking in the rain without an umbrella. She invited me in and we talked for a bit on her couch. Then she mentioned that she needed to get a pair of shoes from her car. So we went outside to retrieve them. I carried them back to her front door for her and we talked a bit more. I asked her if she'd like to get together again next week and she said yes. But when I said goodnight and leaned towards her, she preemptively gave me her cheek to kiss. Dang! You all know that I'm a pretty traditional guy. In fact, if this thing pans out the way I'd like, it's actually a better thing that we haven't kissed yet. I'd really prefer that a precident is made for us not to have too physical a relationship so we really get to know each other on a deeper level. So in one sence, it's okay that we haven't kissed yet. But I REALLY would like to "seal the deal" with a kiss. What gives? How long have any of you waited before kissing your significant other for the first time? [Please, let's try to be mature here. ] |

I think that SP0CK's right...
I've been in two relationships...the first one, it was about 2 months of seeing each other regularly before the "first kiss"...but that was also the first time that either of us had ever done that, so we were both real nervous. The second relationship (the one I'm still in, after over 2 1/2 years), she kissed me the second time we met, and technically before we "got together". But she started it! |

I agree with Spock.
You're gonna get a million different answers. She might be traditional, religious, cautious, or whatever. But, she seems to be truly interested in you, so I'd wait a date or two, and try it again. With my wife, she took advantage of my good nature on practically our first date. Afterwards, I was kinda shocked that it all happened so fast, but she told me that the moment she met me she knew she was going to marry me. I should've run out the door, but I didn't. We got married a year and a half later.

here's what i did.
for a while i gave what now is my gf but wasn't back then kisses on the cheek all the time. start doing that for a while until she gets comfortable. then you start doing these half cheek kisses. (not to be confused with half ass kisses) i basically kissed her at the corner of her mouth so its kinda getting close to a real kiss, but not really. do that for a while and if she seems okay with that, then u can seal the deal. its like a nicotine patch, if u can't do something right away, do it in steps. good luck

Stefano,
You sly dog you !! Since you have such deep conversations together, wait until the conversation is rolling nicely then ask her with a big smile on your face....When do you think its appropriate for a dating couple to kiss for the first time??? Be ready to pucker up...this may just preempt a smooching frenzy !! If your like most of us you like your kisses like your poodles and fries.......french !!!

I'm with the DR here - just ask her about it. If the line of communication is open then there should not be any problem bringing this issue up.
Have you thought about offering her some boiled peanuts?

Thanks for the responses, guys! It actually does help!
I think what it boils down to is that she is intersted in me, but like some of you said, she's religious, traditional, and a little cautious. Thats' fine with me because that pretty much describes me as well, including the cautious part. I wouldn't want to screw anything up by forcing the issue of the kiss. Like my sister told me, I really have to just not think about it so much and let it come naturally. 'Course, that's easier said than done. Thanks again!! |

Your car should be looking like Dr Brandini's avatar by the third date.

Ken - LOL
Keep in mind that if you end up marrying one you won't care if you kiss em or not after about 20+ years.

I tell my wife I forgive her for moving so fast. At least she showed good judgement. She picked ME.
