Snapper Commercial Mower

I need a new mower. I saw someone was selling a commercial High-Vac commercial model with the Honda GCV engine. Is there anything to be concerned about ? He claimed to have used it once and wants $600. The bag system seems a little odd. Thanks for any advice.

Which model is it?
Photos?

What do they retail for? That's what I would want to know.

This is the same model in the link. . It appears that it was about a $1,200 machine new. It appears to have very little use. I looked at it the other day. I found that the self propelled feature seemed pretty weak. It would not really move in slow and it barely moved in fast. It seems like I may be able to adjust the spring tension on the belt, however I was not sure. The guy selling said I could have it for $450, which could be a decent buy if it just needed to be adjusted.

The link is not working. It’s a high -Vac commercial unit with the Honda gxv engine.

Way back, you rarely heard criticism of a Snapper, but as with many things quality has apparently given way to profit.

Used to be pre-covid. Home Depots sold used, returned mowers for 1/3 off the new price. Then slowly lowered the price until it sold. That would've been a reliable source, where you could return it in 30 days if you didn't like it.

If prices are on that Snapper as you suggest, it may be a good mower. But the odd self propelled aspects of it would have made me walk too.

I do not have a lot to mow on my property. The only reason I was looking at commercial mowers to begin with, was that I preferred the metal construction opposed to all of the plastic on the residential units. It seems like everything, it’s difficult to get quality these days.

About 1990 I bought it new. 2-cycle 21" Lawn Boy staggered wheel push-mower. Paid like $239.00 @ Sears.

Bought the Toro 9 years ago. Barely used, $60.00 from a disabled veteran in a wheelchair, that sold used mowers out of his house and yard by word of mouth.

He's dead now. Wish I'd of bought 3 mowers back then.

I ended up buying a used Honda HRC216. The price was about 15% of the new cost. Hopefully it will provide reliable and decent service life.

Sounds like both were good values, kind of like the old cars we drive.
