WinCo foods experience.

I was shopping tonight and I was getting some bulk flour and I heard a very soft song being sung. I was not sure what it was at first then I realized it was an Irish Shanty. It was quite faint and I figured someone was phone playing. When I rounded the corner I saw one of your staff stocking some bulk food and singing the Shanty. I stood there for a few minutes listening until he turned around and realized I was there. We spoke for a few minutes. He shared that he grew up with music in the household and that he liked Shanty's.

It made my day apparently more than I realized. I went up front to pay and asked to speak with a manager. As I was telling two of the managers my experience, I found myself crying, tears and all. Listening to that young man was satisfying and oddly emotional.

My wife said that in this day and age with so much anger and hate in the world, this was a bright spot. My musician friend said that music reaches a different part of the brain.

You have an uncanny ability to be a complete dick, hell, it seems you go out of your way to do so.

The story was about a moment that I found very touching. Completely none political and uncontroversial. And you just felt compelled to ignore it and be a dick.

Well, phk you.

I had to look up WinCo. They went into business after I left town.

The shopping center they are in as well as everything south of Mayfield Road was not there twenty-five years ago. I used to go to that area to hunt doves.

D/FW is becoming another Houston.

Parks mall (south of Mayfield) opened in 1988.

Since you are too young to understand what I am talking about....

Mayfield road runs east and west for about twenty miles. Most of the area south of Mayfield was farmland during the 80s.

Except the part around the Parks mall. This is on FM 157 and the first businesses along that stretch were built during the 1890s. This is before Mayfield was built.

FM 157 was a part of the original Texas trail, starting in McAlester, OK and coming down to Watson Community, TX. That's long gone except for the cemetery. This is in the area close to Six Flags.

You seem to be quite hung up on proving something. I don't know what that might be but keep it up and maybe someday you will manage to do whatever it is you are obsessed with.

David,

I'm guessing there are a few you won't be inviting to your next birthday party.

I hadn't heard of Winco, so looked it up. Sounds like a great place to find quality and reasonable prices. This site seems to explain Winco quite welll:

https://www.thedailymeal.com/1215136/winco-is-even-cheaper-than-costco-and-sams-club-but-theres-a-major-catch/#:~:text=WinCo%2C%20short%20for%20WinCo%20Foods,household%20items%2C%20and%20pet%20supplies.

Also had to look up ' shanty ' : https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/shanty

Hoping the Winco stocker was creative enough to create his own version for the work he was doing. This site has five popular sea shanty lyrics:

https://boattoursjohnspass.com/five-memorable-sea-shanties-pirates-and-sailors-love/#:~:text=You%20don't%20need%20to,difference%20between%20success%20and%20failure.

I do not get the birthday reference.

His singing was fairly faint so I could not hear the words very clearly. Too be honest, I was a bit caught up in the moment and did not really pay attention to the words.
