The Bose Beta Sound System
Who here likes the Bose system in the w140's? I know they have had changes after 95.
I just want to hear some opinions on this stock system. I think it is very good especially for deep bass and the radios do get very good reception.

my dad has a 92 400se and it has the bose beta system and it pounds. The bass is crisp and clear and the trebble and mid range are amazing. I have a custom system in my 126 with 2 10's in my trunk and it cannot even compare to the clarity. I love it and wish i could have the system in my diesel.

And all of that great sound comes out of that cheap Becker on the early w140. Did BOSE put anything in the radio or is the wattage boosted on those Beckers or what?

The deck is becker, like you said. And there is a seperate amp for the speakers... both made by BOSE.

I know that in 1994 they changed the headunit to an updated one. The one in my mom's car is nice and it pounds alright. Though I am young, and I want even more bass.

Bose in W140 is great, but could use a bit of bass though... mid-range is good and clear..... really like it.... but Lexus' Nakamichi seems to be better..... maybe it's just me...

Akry, you have the early w140 which has the most bass. Isnt that enough or you just want more? And what type of speakers are in the back?

The best thing of the W140 system is the center speaker above the rearview mirror.

You know, I'd always heard the car had an 11th, "center-fill" speaker... but couldn't ever figure out where in the h*ll it was! About 2 years into having the S420, I finally saw it under there!

Why didnt Mercedes put these type of sound systems in the w126? All of a sudden in 1992 they get a top of the line system
