winnebago rialta?

Anybody have one of these things? Have an opportunity to decide if we want to keep/buy one of these contraptions from a family member. Looks like a eurovan based campervan.

Hitch is we have to spend about 2500 bucks on a transmission rebuild. Trying to decide if it might be fun to own a little rv.

My dad had one of those, he liked it quite a bit. Prior to that he had basically the same model but with the four-cylinder original Renault diesel, maybe called the Lesharo I forget. I drove them a little bit, handled pretty well, didn't feel like a large rig.

I believe you are right on the name and I have not driven one but would expect almost car like handling. Looks like a lovely way to travel for a couple and maybe one or two grandkids or kids.

2500 bucks to buy it?

Im having the worst time establishing a value on the potential one. 1999, just over 200k miles on it (someone used the hell out of it)

Price spread on advertised variants is all over the map. From 3500 bucks to 35000 bucks for apparent identical vehicles

They are wonderful vehicles and fairly straightforward to maintain. Even 90's models command huge $$. Should have never sold the one I had. Now looking again at another and it seems like they have appreciated in price.

The Renault based LeSharo was a disaster in the US. Many had diesels which failed in a short time. There is/was a company in Montana which specialized in replacing the original drivetrain with a GM V-6 to salvage the otherwise nice motorhomes. The VW versions are much better. The guy down the street from me who completed a bio on Joe Hill a couple of years ago purchased on for his family to use on his year long book tour.

They are a Eurovan front.

Fun fact: when VW shipped the vans to Winnebago for assembly they would stick 2 EV fronts together and put in a small fuel tank so it could be driven. Winnebago did the chassis and suspension aft of the cab.

Well went to look at it at length. Thinking might not be a good idea for us, need another project like a hole in the head.

Lots of work needed, body work, interior work, none of the systems work, lots of broken panels, ect. Unfortunately right in line with every other vehicle this family member owned.

Worth nothing with a blown transmission and 200k, might be worth 3500 to 5k with a rebuilt transmission. Cool little rig though. Once it moves under its own power might re consider

alot are using the s10 small v6,not the 4.3s. I want to know how the roofs hold up,and were they built as a unit like the GMC one in the 70s.the motorhomes, that use wood, and siding with particleboard, don't last.
