Personally i dont see the reasoning for a full size gadget filled car if one of your goals is fuel economy. Sure 25 to 30 years ago a big car was head and shoulders over an econobox as far as comfort and style, but these days there are so many comfortable roomy economy cars available with plenty of power that get 30+ mpg easy, id be hard pressed to make the argument that a big 4 door sedan was the best choice for the type of constant travel you describe with your new job.

Id probably be in the focus/cobalt/jetta/cruz size range.

I have always liked small, light, quick cars with nimble handling. Then one day I was sitting in a small car at a stop sign and got run over by a big diesel pickup. I think I want more mass around me. I am not a denier of the laws of physics and feel like my body is not as resilient as it was decades ago. Old bodies don't bounce as well as young bodies.

I am not a fan of modern bloatmobiles or yuppie trucks and am probably going to drive a lot less in the future but when I drive I am more likely to have modern safety devices and more mass around me.

I still like cars but I hate car companies, oil companies, red lights and inattentive drivers. Bloat sucks, bloated suburbs suck too.

your opinion must be discarded because as was once said in my presence-

"A man who sleeps with every woman he sees doesn't have a type, he has a problem".

If its got 4 wheels or 2 wheels you are game for at least a little bit.

Same thing people said about the LS400 to Mercedes.

A more apt description is if every luxury brand got together for one massive orgy, this would be their love child.

Mercedes/Lexus Nose, BMW rear section, Infiniti M roof line and general shape. 333 HP V6 that gets 29MPG highway with an 8 speed transmission. All top quality interior finishes, very Lexus-esque.

420HP V8 optional.

Lexicon Stereo system optional. (only other car equipped with that is a Rolls Royce)

Damn near autonomous driving system like the MB S-class optional as well.

I've ordered all the Genesis badges from the New 2015 model so I can completely de-hyundai badge the car, including the steering wheel, wheel caps hood and trunk.

The badge is winged sort of like Bentley. It's like Hyundai is copying and trolling all the luxury brands at the same time.

Fatigue? Inquiring minds want to know. Sleeping with one woman alone can generate problems. I always liked the phrase sleeping with a woman anyways. It immediately transposes to another picture. Sleep itself never gets us into trouble.

Sounds like a solid choice. I've got out of the "snooty" image car game when I sold the E 2 years ago, and never looked back. While I do miss the presence the nice cars brought (and the ego boost LOL), I don't miss the associated costs that came with them. Like I said before, the Genesis Coupe is a very good looking ride, and if the refresh looks as good as the current model, I may find myself driving one of those sooner rather than later!

Ninja edit - I helped a friend negotiate a deal on a new Sonata about a month ago, and while she was signing papers, I got to take a spin in a new Genesis Sedan with the 5.0 V8. Let's just say I was not only surprised by how quick it was, but also how well it was built. The interior blew away the interior of my old W211!

Tyler have you considered an Acura TL, TSX or RL? TSX is actually fun enough to drive where you won't want to shoot yourself, tl and RL are very nice cars and are very reliable.

Got the Genesis a few days ago and I'm very happy with it. Couldn't stand more than 30 minutes of being a Hyundai, and debadged the thing. Now only the Genesis badges that troll Bentley.

I'm driving it like an idiot right now as I've been slumming around in a 2005 Prius for the last 3 months and missed have a quick vehicle. 0-60 in 5.5 seconds is accurate (wow) and because of my heavy foot I'm getting 22mpg. Feels great on the highway. Quieter and smoother than a S-class. Really hard to believe, but its true.

I had a brand new genesis (2015) pull up next to me, coincidentally behind a brand new A6. The Genesis looked better IMHO. I'd love to see how the new ones look on the inside.

Very nice on the inside of the 2015s. W222/LS460 nice.

Interesting they chose to do the opposite of all the other Asian makes and create their own luxury brand. Rather they are trying to elevate their own brand from bargain basement *hitboxes to bargain luxury cars.

You can still get a stripper, which is still well equipped, for 38k, all the way up to 49k for an all wheel drive with all the bells and whistles, including the self driving system like the W222. Pretty easy to negotiate 5k off sticker as well.

Cadillac is making a play like this as well, only they managed to keep some brand equity despite building crap for 25 years.

Very difficult to realize that we are 15 years into the new century already. I have to do the arithmetic every time.

Also what year? New or used? 3.8? Congrats on the new purchase!
