Giant Weed can cause blisters and blindness

Apparently a weed called Giant hogweed can cause some serious effects on people

I read where it can even cause death. You would think it would be illegal wouldn't you if it is as dangerous as they say.

They are relatively common in Europe.
In the 70's they were popular garden plants, in the suburbs there were competition for growing the tallest one.
Now they are most of them are removed.

The effect of touching the sap is a bit like touching poison ivy, it burns.
I never chopped one down without gloves.

I did see a couple of kids once who had cleared a field in their bathing suits, a couple of hours later they all looked like ripe tomatoes (all survived).
