Thanks Guys; Thanks for the birthday Greetings. Love em all! I did take it for a little ride again yesterday Tom. It is a little hard in front, must have some pretty dry rubber in there somewhere (I suspect guide rod ends). But she runs like a jack rabbit! I mean really gets out there and flies. Shifting is good, but a little different with the fast engine deceleration, but it shifts OK if your fast, dbl clutch it if your slow. I do have a problem getting it in reverse, but I am going to put it on a hoist at my Indy's shop on the 18th to see what needs adjusting. But except for that, I really like it. Have new plates coming in for it reading "83 240D" Indiana. No smoke, no leaks, good vacuum, good boost and a great body and interior and a working sunroof. Still need to install the power antenna and I am going to pull the instruments and use the 85 Speedo and probably the tach though I am a long ways from hooking it up. Need a guy like Army here to get me through that. But he always says, "Don't leave that lay there or I'll take it to bits" and I bet he will. There is a rusty bad body 240D on Craigslist in Shelbyville with a 4 speed. Guy is asking $1500 but I think after he sits with it for another month or so he might think $750.00 is enough. I did miss one on Craig List this spring. A guy in Coal City was selling a pair of junker W123's, a 240D 4 speed and a 300D 4 speed Euro. Neither one ran, the 300D had a ruined vibration damper and craank. I called him so often and never an answer, but this week I called and got him. He said he sold them both to a "collector" in Clinton. I keeping my eye open for them to re-appear, might even go to Clinton and look around.

Yes Tom, I think that is what it is - the standard 85 300D differential with or from the automatic. It is geared plenty fast, you can tell that on 1st gear starts.
