USPS Bent My Part

So I bought fender trim for the 300TD.

Dumbasses packed it in a thin cardboard tube and it arrived at my door bent.

What can I do?

Call UPS and tell them to pick it up. You don't need to accept damaged goods.

Seller's fault for improper packaging.

Was it insured? Somehow, even if it was, I doubt you can claim insurance since it was poorly packaged

I will guess it was Parcel Post. They should call that Parcel Smash. Anytime an EBay seller shows that as a shipping method I will ask them if they will ship a different way because if they ship it that way they might as well smash it with a hammer before they put it in the box. I won't buy anything that will be shipped that way because you will wait 3 weeks and then get a smashed up box.

Is this the chrome wheel arch trim that you're thinking about installing? You know, the one that's notorious for causing rust because it traps moisture and salt underneath it....

No fender trim (the stock long piece) Very hard to find it seems. I bought one used from a guy off the Parts section. That got bent as well. I never followed through bec I didn't pay much and it was a PIA to buy in the first place.

This part came Priority US Mail. Don't recall if it has insurance. I've been busy with other things, so won't be able to delve into until later today or Monday.

Yeah, what he said. Contact the seller and tell them you won't pay for damaged goods. If necessary, remind them it was THEIR choice of packing and shipping methods. See what they say...

Again, I doubt if the insurance will pay since you received damaged goods that was NOT properly packed.

I believe that UPS stores have a guaranteed shipping program. Meaning if the seller takes the part to a UPS store and has them pack it, they guarantee the part will arrive in good condition. Might be priced a bit more than USPS, but worth it. Price versus cost type of thing.....
