iPod question
My wife has an iPod nano. It was purchased on recommendation of an Apple fan. He even loaded it up with music for her from his VAST library.
Now it seems that his computer is the only one that can be used to update the music she carries. Word is that any other computer, Mac or PC will erase all her files. There is a lot on it that is nearly irreplaceable--recitals and performances by our son. So, some questions.... Is it true that access by any other computer will erase all the files? Is there a patch or "work around" for this? Is it possible to download all her iPod files to a PC and then start over? I don't mind doing the updates, but I'd like to be sure I don't erase files. I don't want to have to continue depending on someone else, even a good friend, to do file maintenance for her. Thanks for whatever help you might be able to provide.

Does the software allow her to share files with anyone? I thought that iTunes gives a user the right to share a certain small number of copies with other people. If so, maybe she could open a new account, share the irreplaceable files with herself, and then start clean on her music library.
Major caveat here, just in case this wasn't already obvious, I don't know ***** about iTunes. So don't go by me. |

There are many programs that will transfer and archive music or other files on an iPod.
