Cool Just got buzzed by a B17!

Very cool! I was sitting at my desk at home and I heard a plan coming in far lower than usual. The engines sounded strange to, I could tell it wasn't a little prop plane. So I get up and look out the window, right as a B17 fly's over at about 200ft.

If it comes back around I'll get a better picture.

Very cool. I don't think there are many of those in flying condition.

Ten days ago I took my 3 year old son to the Canadian Warplane Heritage museum, which is a largely airworthy collection. We got to stand on the tarmac outside the hangar as they started up their Lancaster, then watched it taxi out and take off for an airshow near Detroit. We were maybe 30 yards from the aircraft, and when it turned to taxi away from us it felt like standing in a hurricane, with the noise and prop wash coming off those 4 Merlins. They came back around and buzzed the hangar at about 200 feet before turning for Detroit. It was absolutely amazing.

Probably this one?

Go for a ride. It's indeed a trip. Guarantee you'll have a chance to meet a WWII vet who flew in one.

I took one last year in the Collings Foundation B17G "Nine -O - Nine"
Awesome! Saving my pennies to go to TX and hop aboard their F-4D Phantom. Straight up with the AB's lit. That would be something!

What a bargain! You can buy an hour flight in the Lancaster, but it will cost you $2000. You get a $1200 tax receipt for a charitable donation to the museum, though.

I saw it a couple times , too. It's the Liberty Belle. It flew into Brainard whose approach is right over our building. Very cool indeed! $400 for a 1/2hr I think they said on the news (3). One of 12 left flying.

I am so tempted right now, to go for a ride. If I didn't just spend $2k on my b day present already I would.
