Mowat observed Canadian wolves in the '50s and only saw them take injured or weak large animals such as caribou and determined from inspecting their dens that their main diet was voles. Nobody believed him either.

The ranchers need to deal with it. They were here before us and kept the population of smaller animals in check.
We need them around here, we are simply being overrun with deer and wild turkey's. Since hunting is restricted the biggest preditor they have to worry about these days are cars.

According to the article, it's the humans running amok - not the wolves. Not surprising though, what with the unchecked redneck population of Idaho, and to say nothing of the white-supremists of the northern panhandle.
