The 140 has controversial appeal. I am not scared of them. However it's the aesthetics and massive weight (not to mention isolation) that turn me off. I will admit, it is more refined than the preceding S. But even Bruno Sacco admitted it was a bit ill-proportioned.

I'm not a fan either from a purerly aesthetic point of view. W126 or even the later S class (w211?) are nicer on the eyes. I don't like the recent S class styling either... I think bruno said something like the roofline was a few inches high.

I rather like the sheer mass of the W140. If there is a styling aspect I dislike it's the rather small wheels and the rather small grill. I do prefer the predecessors in that respect. I hate it's successor though. No presence. A fairly nice shape to a certain extent but nothing that says Mercedes Benz to me, other than the star itself I guess, and especially nothing that says S-Class. I like the sheer tank like presence of the W140. I hate the current Nissan Maxima on steroids. But then I guess aesthetics are as different as individuals.

Most MB's of that era had small wheels stock. W140's are made for 18in AMG monoblocks.

Wouldn't own a W140 without them, they make them look just right.

This is a good looking wheel too.
