I got them in Italy. BUT, you can find new AM ones on ebay for around $200... they look identical to the OE "cibies".

Look at the euro amber/white corner lights on that. And those Borbet type E wheels on it (like the ones on the '91 740 I used to drive).
Red wagons like that, and in 740/760 guise, with a dog screen behind the back seat, and the golden retriever in back, were "the" staff car in Sweden until a few years ago. I know that, I was there, and saw it myself. Likewise in Berkeley, California, although the ones there had to be dirty, dented, and festooned with "Save the Planet - Kill Yourself" and "Nuke the Gay Whales" bumper stickers.

Compression test was done - 175ish across all four.
He's been selling it for the past 3 months. What's the chance I could talk him down to under 1K?

the market has shown him that clearly this won't work, so he will have to take a lot less. But you never know. Under $1,000 is a LOT more realistic for a Volvo that old (coming on to 30 years pretty soon) that has a little rust on it. But the dirty little secret here is that these cars are FANTASTICALLY rugged, durable, reliable, and high quality units that will run to star trek mileages, even when (which is often) they have been neglected, and THIS one looks to be pretty well kept up, so chances are it will run for a very very long time. The 242GT are cult cars (though admittedly, the cult for them is VERY small)!!! www.ipdusa.com is your friend for parts, and advice, as is www.brickboard.com He might be insulted at a $900 offer, but even at $1200 it might be worth it, if it runs out good and the rust on it is only surface that can be cleaned up.

He's a diehard volvo fan. He drive a newer volvo and this one was supposed to be for his son (hence the IPD cam/TB) Right now it's just sitting in his garage.
A little paint and some interior work, and I'm sure the car would go for another 30 years. I'm calling Roy out to take a look, then I'll endup offering 1k for her. (She'll be going to a new home)

$1,000 is a pretty steep drop from $2,800, you know.
