Well, it's done . . .
.
I am now the official manservant for a 5.5-month-old, brown tabby-and-white Siberian girl cat. Her name, "Tatiana Romanova," is bigger than she is. (Trivia Q: What fictional character did I get that name from?) She was very timid at first. About four hours in, though, she hopped on the kitchen counter so that she was closer to my level, and began bumping her head against me. No more timidity after that, and she's been eating and using the litter box without a problem. The incumbent cat, Oreo, alternates between looking bewildered ("How did I lose control of my home?") and glaring at the kitten like a dyspeptic panda. They've hissed and growled, while Tatiana arches her back like a Halloween cat. But Oreo allows her to sit fairly close, and Tatiana keeps trying to snuggle up with her. I'd guess there won't be any bloodshed. I'd forgotten how playful and determined kittens can be. . . . .

Not really a cat person, but . . .
I've never been overly fond of cats. I like kittens AND children, but then they always grow up and they're just not as cute anymore.
I will say that the fact that my girl friend's cat has taken a liking (apparently), or at least is willing to accept me, makes me feel pretty good. It's funny how well animals can sometimes judge people's character. That cat is making me soft!

No, I think that was Daniela Bianchi in the James Bond flick "From Russia With Love" the one who stole the crypto device from the Russian embassy in Istanbul

Trivia --
Jim B. had it right. Tatiana Romanova is the girl whom Rosa Klebb (Lotte Lenya, in the movie) and SMERSH (in the novel) use to bait their trap for James Bond.
I can't recall in the film, but in the book she is an innocent, was not a spy but a clerk in the Soviet bureaucracy, and did not know SMERSH planned to kill her and Bond in order to discredit the British Secret Service. I chose to call the kitten that because she is as good-natured as the girl in the novel, and while I don't normally give cats human names, "Tatiana" is enough outside my experience that I hardly think of it as a person's name. The next challenge will be teaching her to stay off the kitchen counters by the stove. .
