Help picking a new mattress!

Lately I have been waking up in the morning feeling like I just went 8 rounds and lost badly. I noticed my current mattress is sagging and turning it has not helped.

I have been looking at the Tempur-Pedic foam mattress. Anyone here have one? I have a pretty messed up low back and am looking for better mattress.

Any other brands you have been happy with?

Thanks!

I was able to get some extra "sleepage" out of my old mattress with a feather mattress topper. Right around a 100 bucks (and another 50 for high threadcount sheets on sale), and I was sleeping like a baby cradled in an angels arms.
That lasted for about a year. Now the mattress has aged beyond saving, and I too have wondered about the foam mattress. I was thinking that the heat issue could be circumvented by using the feather mattress topper.
There is another brand out there called Dormia - anybody have one of theirs?

Sleep number here too. I have had it for 3 years now. Love it. You can adjust it as our needs change. Wife likes soft, I like it firmer. Works great.

Tempur Pedic aka Memory Foam

i used to sell commercial office furniture and oyu could get an option in some chairs called memory foam. i am in love with the stuff. laying in it is like laying in goo that is the same temperature and consistancy as oyur flesh! it is also as expensive as anyting. i was shopping for a bed for my apartment at a sleepys up her in NJ and for the smallest sized mattres (i left off the last s for savings ) it was like $800. i think that was about right, when i worked selling furniture i tried to buy memory foam in bulk from one of the chair manufacturers and it ended being $50 for a piece the size of a car seat (i wanted to put it in when i reupholstered it)!

There are other memory foam beds that have a layer of wool or something over the foam to help it breathe better. I got ours at overstock.com. Its a nice bed.
