If you're like me, you lose cell phones or damaged them a lot.

Insurance is the way to go, but some of us have worn out our welcome with Papa insurance so we need an alternative to the price gouging of hte cellphone companies.

Example: Cingular(my carrier) will let you buy a funky phone for 69.00 with a 2 year contract. If you lost that phone, you will have to pay full price if it happens within 18 months of the original date.

I refuse to pay 349.00 for a phone so I searched online for an alternative.

I came across letstalk.com and ordered a Nokia 6382 camera phone with blue tooth capability, which I need casue I drive a lot.

219.00 including shipping

Cingular wanted 349.00 for that same phone.

It's brand new, cingular ready and came with a new SIM card in case I needed one. I just switched the one from my old phone and voila! back in business.

Just thought I'd share.

Don't hate me, but since my brother in law is president of marketing for the third largest provider of cell phones on the internet (they did $300 million last year), he gets me any phone for free. I just got that funky Motorola Razer phone. Since cell service in my area is spotty, the phone is terrible because it doesn't have a big enough antenna. So he's looking into a Sony Ericsson for me that hasn't yet hit the market. The "sample" phones he gets are usually tweaked for better reception than the ones that sell on the regular market.

I really believe some phones are tweaked.

Example: I just got his phone today and have seen dramatic omprovement in signal strength over the same exact phone sold to me by cingular.

In fact, I bought and returned the same model phone from them for crappy reception.

This one has all of the bars, all of the time, especially at my house where i was spotty at best.

i find the candybar style phones best for that sort of activity...but boy does the screen get dirty...
