recommended insurance?
I'm going to buy an older Benz soon. It's my 9th month here in the US and I still don't have any other option but riding my bike (mostly to and from ASU). I've absolutely no clue as soon as it comes to US cars but I know Euro cars quite well. My question is: Can you recommend a good insurance company in AZ that will accept...
1) old MBs (my targets are W115 or W123, Diesel) and 2) drivers with ZERO driving history here in the States without having to pay insanely high premiums but with an acceptable coverage policy. I'm 30 years old, have got good credit history and have never been indebted. Thanks!

I recently had the same problem with my father. For 10 years he had driven a vehicle owned by my brother. Then, when he finally went to get insurance in his own name, nobody would touch him because he had no policy or any history.
He finally did get insurance through AARP, but, otherwise, it would have been assigned risk (very costly). Good luck. |

Try AAA
I've been with the American Automobile Association (AAA) for a bunch of years. In Colorado and Louisiana, at least, they offer insurance (through Travelers in CO, through ACIIE in LA). Invariably they were lower in premiums than State Farm or Allstate, even Geico. That "15 minutes" never saved me any 15%; usually they were higher.
When I had my W126 crunched by a teenage driver last year, they not only offered me a fair NADA value for the car, they tossed in the Louisiana sales tax without my having to press. My premiums didn't go up. In fact, just last week, my latest bill came with a 30% (yes, thirty per cent) reduction. Not a mistake; they put in a notice congratulating me on qualifying for a discount based on my driving record.

Whatever you get, make sure that you get Under Insured Motoris (UIM) or Uninsured Motorist (UM) coverage, as much as you can and stackable if you have more than one vehicle, if it's offered in your neck of the woods, since that's the insurance that benefits you if you get injured by a miscreant with little or no insurance. Consider consolidating your insurance business if the "multiple policy" discount warrants.

NJ, FL and CA have some, how shall we say, "interesting" insurance policy outcomes, both home and auto.

Looking for a good insurance company at a good price, you have to call Geico. They specialize in car insurance. If you are a driver with good driving record, you will get a good price from Geico. They have a website you can get a price quote. We switched to Geico when they came back to New Jersey almost a year ago and we saved a bunch!!!

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.
Benzadmiral, interesting example given. I'll check if AAA offer their service in AZ as well. TN-W124 Diesel, I've heard they're not an individual insurance company, they just refer to other companies.... what's the big advantage of progressive.com? tkamiya, I don't quite get it. What do you mean by "proof of insurance from anywhere in the world"? I don't believe somehting like that exists in my home country, also we don't have a driving history. However, the training that is required to get your driver license usually takes from 2 weeks (intense, on a daily basis) to a month (regular). I thought insurance companies just don't care if you got your license in another country and have no history HERE - like NO HISTORY = HIGH RISK. MTI, thanks for the terms to remember ... right now I don't even have a single vehicle that qualifies for insurance - my bike doesn't LOL. Flash Gordon, GEICO have been advertising pretty aggressively here in AZ, I got 2 of their flyers in my latest shippings from Amazon, besides I hear them on the radio every 5 minutes, but.... that doesn't mean I won't check them out!
