Phoenix official dies after jumping or falling from car going 60 mph

The city of Phoenix’s longtime finance director died in Scottsdale after falling or jumping from a moving car.

Witnesses told police that Kevin Keogh, 55, climbed onto the top of his moving Mercedes-Benz, stretched out his arms and then jumped or fell from the car on Wednesday.

The car continued driverless until it crashed into another car. No one else was injured.

Investigators don’t yet know whether the death was intentional, but the cruise control was apparently set at 50 mph. The medical examiner will determine if drugs or alcohol were involved.

The story on the news tonight was that he had contracted some kind of parasitic disease in Mexico a few years ago - apparently a degenerative disease that affected the left frontal brain lobe and "impaired judgement". Also said that the cruise control had been set at 60 - a clear sign of judgement impairment. Most people would know that you can't climb on the roof of your car with the cruise control set over 30 or 40. But thankfully he was able to function as the CFO of the city of Phoenix until the very end. One of the strangest stories I've ever heard. I actually got caught in the related traffic jamb. Another reason not to go to Mexico.

Cystercosis - according to the Phoenix paper this morning. It causes "frontal lobe disinhibition". Also from the paper "When it comes to making a decision, our frontal lobes tell us what's socially appropriate". It is an infection in humans by the larval stage of the pork tapeworm Taenia solium. The larvae spread and move in the muscles and brain. The larvae is large enough to be seen by the naked eye. People ingest it by eating fruit and vegatables contaminated by pig feces. This happens in Mexico where pigs are allowed to graze in fields where fruit and vegatables grow (not allowed in the U.S.)

And the latest estimate is that he was going 50 mph, although when you're riding on the roof of your car, and you're also the driver, it probably doesn't matter a whole lot whether you're going 50 or 60.
