Cool

All those rude service "people" only care about themselves and their jobs and most of them dont even care about the customer! The customer is always right as my father use to say. I don't tolerate rude service technitians/consultants and I purse to get them fired which i have already done and I was extremely happy to see the guys face as he left that day

Good job!

By the way, are there more rude service advisors at MB dealers than other car brand dealers?

Im guessing that MB is the only carmake with the rudest people workin there! The toyota dealership where I go to get mine serviced at is very friendly and really shows respect

Avoid AlphaCars for both mechanical work and body work.

They are expensive. However, "you get what you pay for" does not apply here at all. You only get worse than average work at high price. The say "personal attention to detail", but their attention is truly disappointing. Poor finish of jobs, charge for a job that was not done at all, . . . .

I had them do various mechanical and body work.

New England, a rare find, MA.

I found that Hatch and Sons in Wayland, MA did excellent work on both of my W210 diesels. They also seemed to have a great selection of used MB's (And Ferraris), although I have not purchased a car there.

I am happy with their service and would highly reccomend them to anyone in New England. (I drive 85 miles to get them.)

I've checked out their web site and..oh Man...It sure seems like they know what they're doing..but one question....

It also looks like they...could be Expensive.. what work did you have done on your diesel and what did they charge.. Boston is NOT know for.. um.. affordability.

** Having lived and then moved FROM the Cape, I do know a bit about New England**

Thumbs up AlphaCars

Hello,

My name is Dmitry and I am the owner and General Manager of AlphaCars in Boxborough, MA. We are in business since early nineties. We sell and service European cars. We do a lot of work on Mercedes and have very good reputation. Ktlimq has different opinion and I respect it. We have done a lot of work for Ktlimq on his very nice 1992 Turbo Diesel both mechanical and body. Nobody is perfect and it is unfortunate that AlphaCars team did not meet his expectations this time. It is also unfortunate that Ktlimq does not write in his posting the following:
1. Detailed estimate in writing was given, and the original repair work did not exceed this estimate.
2. It was explained that touch up paint will never look like factory finish or complete panel refinish.
3. Repair process was documented and pictures e-mailed as repair work was done.
3. In another negative posting (about Hatch and Sons) Ktlimq writes that some shop performed proper procedure and recommended not to replace timing chain and sprockets because they are within factory specs. Unfortunately Ktlimq doesn’t say that this shop was AlphaCars.
4. All reported to Alphacars warranty concerns were addressed immediately and loaner car was provided.

There are a few other things that are not mentioned in Ktlimq's posting. But the bottom line is that AlphaCars team and I we work very hard each day to make sure all work is done perfect and our customer are happy. We will gladly and professionally address all Ktlimq's concerns if he wishes to contact me.

And for Mercedes car owners I strongly believe that AlphaCars is a valuable asset.

good body shop

I'll second Dick's Auto Body in Somerville. They did excellent work on my 500e after a co-worker did some parking lot damage. I worked with Sal, but the whole crew is good.

good work and not overpriced

I don't know what their hourly rate is, but I think it was less than $100 an hour. (all the MB dealers here charge that+)

They always seem to be very conservative and fair on their calculation of hours. They get parts quickly, and most importantly, their work is superior.

A local dealer wanted $850 plus three hours labor to replace my rearview mirror which was loose. (This franchise dealer promised is was not repairable.)

I took it to Hatch. They identified the broken part inside the mirror, fixed it, and the mirror is now perfect. By the way they charged me zero for parts and one hour's labor, saving me over a thousand dollars.

Restoration of 87 560sl, MA.

Hello Mercedes experts. Hope to find some much-needed guidance here! My husband brought home a darling little gift for me, but it needs work. The engine is super, w/only 100,000 orig. miles and the only problems we've noticed is no a/c and a leaky hard top. Don't know about the ragtop yet, but it is our intention to use this car as a fair-weather convertible, so the hard top isn't a big concern.

I would like to essentially replace all of the interior (numerous dash cracks, old carpet, malfunctioning seats, just old and dirty) and I'd like new exterior paint. The side mouldings are pretty drab, though the chrome looks good. Two owners -- we know them both.

We're near Dayton, OH, though we would trailer or drive her to the right shop to do the work and hope to have her ready by spring. Any suggestions? Thank you. -mkr
ps Also appreciate personalized plate suggestions.

If cost and distance arent a concern, I highly reccomend Hatch & Sons in Wayland, Massachusettes. They are probabaly one of the finest, well known, and respected Mercedes specialists in the country, if not the world.

They are VERY courteous- I had a few questions in regards to the restoration of my car, so i sent them an e-mail. Unexpectedly i recieved a phone call from them and the gentleman on the line talked to me for about 15 minutes about my car, as well as answering questions and sharing his knowledge.

Hatch & Sons has restored cars that have recently been featured in Mercedes Enthusiast magazine, which is published in the UK. They work in all fields of restoration- paint, interior, mechanical- you name it, they do it!

If you want the best, and wont settle for less, go to Hatch & Sons!

Thanks for the recommendation. I've emailed them to see what they think we're talking about in terms of time and money. They sure have some great-looking cars on their site. Thanks again.

Youre quite welcome!

They have amazing cars!

I do also know of another restoration shop, and I should have mentioned it earlier, siimply because you have an SL, and the shop in mind specializes strictly in SL's.

Theres a company out here in the Bay Area, Burlingame specifically, that has been specializing in all post 1989 SL bodied Mercedes-Benz cars. They do very high quality work, and have served clients from around the world.
If distance really isnt an issue, you can find more information on this shop at thhe following web address. The shops name is L.R. Spencer co., headed by Roy Spencer. Theyre located in Burlingame Ca., about 15 minutes south of San Francisco. SFO international airport is about 10 minutes from the shop.

www.oursl.com

Good luck, and wish the best for you and your SL!
That car is going to be drop dead GORGEOUS!

I have contacted Hatch & sons in Wayland (very responsive via email) to get an estimate for an assessment of a recent purchase ('85 300D) Their quote was $90 per hour on 2-3-05...

More Hatch and Sons

I have bought several cars from these guys and have been nothing but pleased. Yes, I felt I paid more than I could have somewhere else, but I also had the feeling that what I bought was as close to perfect as they could get it. I do know that I contributed plenty to the new building they are in!
I also know that I trust them and that is not easy to say about car service people these days.
Thats my 2 cents..
