ML 320 schematic front & rear shock assembly

Can anyone help me pls?

I'm ordering the parts required to change my front and rear shocks in my 2000 ML 320 and would like to have a schematic (from the repair manual) with parts identified so I can determine which parts will need to be replaced when replacing the shocks.

Have already ordered the appropriate shocks (Bilstein) and would like to know what additional parts (dealer items for example) need to be replaced when changing the shocks.

many tks...

tks Ron in SC

stumbled across this already and it's great help - but, the rear coil-over for example is not exploded, it's shown assembled and this is exactly what i'm looking for - the little bits within the rear coil-over assembly. Bumber stop, washer and stuff...

Ron,

MANY THANKS! Now THAT's what I'm talking about...

As a DIY project, i'm going over all parts required for the 4 wheel shock change (Bilstein) coming up. I suspect it would be wise to replace both rubber mounts for each shock (in rear). (Don't think this comes with the parts from Bilstein). Dealer tells me the "supporting bearing" should be fine and can be reused. Also commented the spring pads should also be OK.

Sorry, but I have to ask...
Can you provide me with schematics for the front? I don't know what might need to be replaced there, and could use an overview.

Now I'm trying to find an appropriate spring compressor as most compressors are designed for larger diameter coils and could fly off the smaller diameter coils of the ML - Ugh....

Tks in advance!

Front shock is very simple, see diagram.

I used the stock rear Boge/Sachs units since I got the pair for about $115 and since the only safe way in my opinion is to use the factory recommended type of compressor which as I recall where very expensive, I'm thinking they were somewhere between 1K and 2K. Klann and Hazet make them, and you can get them from Baum tool, Samstag and probably a few other places.

Hi there. w163 Ml 320 2002 manufactured in July of 2001

Anyone kind enough to provide me with a schematic or picture of the rear wheel assembly and front wheel assembly with torque spec would be greatly appreciated.
And any useful tips on how best to ....... even further appreciated
Problem
1. It would appear that upon jacking the rear wheels and grabbing the tire at 12 o' clock position and pushing forward there is play in the upper wishbone in the rear nothing on the 3 and 9 position also no play with crow bar under the rear tire and pushing down on the crowbar in the ball joints.-- so I have to replace the upper wishbone I guess

2. In the front grabbing at 3 and 9 position play in the tie rod ends -- so I guess replace the front tie rod ends
(and nothing at 12 and 6 or crow bar under the tire a pushing down on the crow bar
no play)

To ADD: my discovery of the above was I received a complaint from the driver that at different speeds there would on an occasion be a vibration -- given the above is that a possible cause
